General dentistry in Palakollu
Consultation, examination, digital X-rays, fillings and an honest treatment plan you can take away and think about.
General dentistry is the everyday work: examining, diagnosing, filling, and planning what needs doing and in what order. At Care Dental Experts in Palakollu a first visit takes about 30 to 45 minutes and ends with a written plan and indicative costs. No treatment is started at that visit unless you are in pain and want it dealt with.
Your first visit, step by step
Reception and forms
Bring any previous X-rays, a list of your medications, and your EHS or WJHS card if you have one.
Consultation
You sit and talk before anything else. What is the problem, how long, what makes it worse, and what you are hoping for.
Examination
Every tooth, the gums, the bite, and a soft-tissue and oral cancer screening.
Digital X-ray if needed
On the screen in seconds. You see it too, and we explain what you are looking at.
The plan
What needs doing urgently, what can wait, what only needs watching, and what each option costs. In writing.
You decide
Go home and think about it if you want to. Many patients do. Nothing here depends on a decision made in the chair.
Fillings: which material, and why
| Material | Appearance | Best for | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Composite (tooth-coloured) | Matches the tooth | Front and back teeth, most cavities | 5 to 10 years |
| Glass ionomer | Reasonable | Root-surface cavities, children, releases fluoride | 3 to 6 years |
| Inlay / onlay (ceramic) | Excellent | Large cavities where a filling would be weak | 10+ years |
| Crown | Excellent | When too little tooth remains to fill | 10 to 15 years |
There is a point where a filling becomes the wrong answer, when so little tooth is left that the filling is holding the tooth rather than the tooth holding the filling. We will tell you when you have reached it instead of placing a large filling that fails in eighteen months.
Second opinions
We see a steady stream of second opinions and we are glad to. Bring the X-ray, the plan and the quote. You will get one of three answers:
- The plan is sound, go back and have it done, possibly closer to home.
- The plan is reasonable but there is a simpler alternative, here it is, with the trade-offs.
- We would do something different, and here is exactly why, on the X-ray.
A dentist who reacts badly to you seeking a second opinion has told you something important.

Common questions
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Any previous X-rays or treatment plans, a list of medications you take, details of medical conditions such as diabetes or heart problems, and your EHS or WJHS card if you have one. If a family member usually helps you understand medical advice, bring them.
Will treatment be started on the first visit?
Only if you are in pain and want it dealt with. Otherwise the first visit is examination and planning. You are never moved from an examination into a procedure you have not agreed to.
Do you charge for a consultation?
There is a consultation fee, listed on our fees page. Call +91 89852 66444 to confirm the current figure before you come.
Can I bring my whole family in one appointment?
Yes, and many families do. Call ahead so we can block the time properly rather than rushing four examinations into one slot.
Not sure which treatment you need?
Bring your X-rays if you have them, or just bring the tooth that is troubling you. A consultation and examination is the honest first step. We will tell you if you do not need treatment yet.
